Mood Study: Wednesdays are the most depressing day of the week

1.         If you have to struggle to get up for work on Wednesdays, there may be a good reason/ explanation –-- it is the day your mood reaches its lowest point/ you are at the lowest point.

2.         Psychologists have found that, on average, people's moods remain about/almost the same on each day throughout/of/during the week. Monday has traditionally been seen/viewed/regarded/considered/thought of as the most depressing day of the week, but according to psychologists/psychologists claim, midweek gives/brings/produces more concerns/worries/causes for concern in reality. Wednesday represents the lowest point in the week as the last weekend has gone far and the next one has not come yet/ as people are furthest away from the weekend that has either just gone or is coming up and often slow down/feel bogged down with work.

3.         In early days of their research/ To start their research, the University of Sydney researchers asked/inquired around 200 people how they thought of their mood/what they thought their mood would be on each day of the week. Most said their worst moods were on Monday mornings and evenings but they became increasingly/gradually/more cheerful as the week wore on, with their best moods falling on Friday and Saturday mornings and evenings. When asked why they believed that Friday and Saturday were best, respondents said/replied they felt more relaxed/saw them as less-structured days when they could be free to spend/enjoy their time.

4.         The psychologists then asked another group of 350 people how they felt each day. Their findings show/suggest that, on average, people's moods remained about the same throughout the week. Mondays were not as depressing as they had imagined and Fridays and Saturdays were not as wonderful as anticipated/predicted.

5.         Professor Charles Areni, who led the study/in charge of this research, said"Day-of-the-week stereotypes/modes like Monday morning blues and Thank God It's Friday are actually/virtually/largely illusions."
